We have been a part of some of the most relevant transactions in the Spanish market in recent years, such as the sale and leaseback of Banco Santander branch network, the sale and leaseback of the Prisa Portfolio and the sale and leaseback of Caja Madrid (now Bankia) branches.
Luis is one the founding partner of Drago Capital and currently serves as co-chief executive officer and head of Acquisitions. Luis has over 21 years of experience in real estate investment and finance. Prior to Drago Capital, he was a Managing Director and Head of Acquisitions for the European Real Estate Group at JP Morgan Asset Management until June 2006. He was in charge of investing in the UK and Southern Europe for the Peabody funds, co-managed by JPMorgan and the O'Connor group. He was a member of the Partners Review Committee and Investment Committee of the Peabody Funds and JP Morgan’s European Property Fund, respectively. Before this, Luis was Founder and Chief Financial Officer of a leading online real estate company in Spain bought by Homestore.com in June 2000 and prior to that he was the youngest partner in Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Funds and Real Estate Private Equity Group where he was in charge of the UK and Spain. Transactions in which he played a key role included the acquisition of the Allied Domecq retail estate and the acquisition of an office portfolio from Argentaria (one of Spain’s leading financial institutions).
Prior to that, Luis was at Cargill Inc. in the Value Investment Group and Merrill Lynch International (Real Estate Investment Banking Department).
Luis graduated with honors from Oxford University with an MA in Modern History and Economics.
Vanessa has focused on real estate asset management and real estate investment for the last 8 years. She moved to Drago from Tishman Speyer, where she was the fund manager of Tishman Speyer European Real Estate Venture VI and was responsible for investor relations and portfolio management, including new acquisitions and asset management of the existing properties, with a comprised capital over € MM 1,000. Previously, Vanessa worked at Morgan Stanley in the Investment Banking group in London and later in Madrid.
Vanessa holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a degree in Business Administration from ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas).
Head of Asset Management, Portugal
Ana is Head of Asset Management in Portugal. She's a qualified architect who has been focused on project management during the last 10 years. Prior to joining Drago in 2006, she was a Managing Director of 3G-Office in Portugal where she project managed on behalf of investors a number of refurbishment projects for singular antique buildings in Lisbon. She refurbished several properties in Lisbon, including the buildings in Avenida Da Republica 91, Rua de Arriaga 12 or Rua do Alecrim 59-69. She has also participated in office projects such as the new headquarters for Coca-Cola and creating office space for the Konecta Group in Restelo (both in Lisbon). Before this, she had her own studio where she dealt successfully with projects such as a general medical centre in El Escorial (North of Madrid), a psychiatric medical centre in Parla (South of Madrid), and the Town Hall offices and a retail centre in Lorca, Murcia. She has also been responsible for several residential projects such as residential units in Aravaca (Madrid), Somosaguas (Madrid), a builiding with 7 units and retail centre in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid) and refurbishment projects of singular buildings in Madrid (Alberto Bosch and Rafael Calvo).
María Jesús Bustamante
Chief Financial Officer
María Jesús is Chief Financial Officer of Drago Capital. She joined Drago in 2006. Previously, she worked in Endesa's Investor Relations department, one of Spain's largest energy companies, where she collaborated in E.ON's due diligence process. Before this, she was Financial Controller at Ikea Spain and prior to that she worked at a leading Spanish online real estate company bought by Homestore.com. Formerly, she was a consultant in Deloitte and was responsible for the development of Grupo Telefónica's internal risk control department. Before that, she was in charge of the administration department at Miramon Mendi (a TV and theater producer).
María Jesús graduated from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid with a degree in Economics and has a Masters degree in Structured Finance and Risk Management from the IE Business School (Instituto de Empresa) in Madrid.
José García Cedrún
José is an acquisitions VP at Drago Capital. He joined the company in 2004. José has participated in the ten acquisitions so far completed by Drago Real Estate Partners and in the JV with Cerberus for the acquisition of the Caja Madrid portfolio. His responsibilities include sourcing deals and developing Drago Capital’s overall market presence.
José graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a degree in Business Administration and in 2008 completed a Real Estate Master degree in ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas).
Manuel is a financial controller at Drago Capital. Before joining the firm in 2011, he worked at PwC for two years where he was a statutory auditor for leading real estate companies. He specialized in the analysis and review of financial statements of investment fund companies.
He has a degree in Law and Business Administration from the University of Granada (Spain).
Isabel Olivares de la Cerda
Isabel has been the Office Manager for Drago Capital since its foundation in 2000. She has focused on real estate asset management for the last 10 years. Prior to this, Isabel was a member of the legal and financial department of a listed Spanish real estate group (El Encinar de los Reyes, property of BBVA Real Estate). She participated in the spin off and disposal of the assets of the group and subsequently transferred to the financial and legal department of El Encinar del Norte (a group held by Olazabal Family). There she participated in the set up of the firm after the spin off of El Encinar de los Reyes.
Isabel holds a degree in English from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Mary Ward Diploma.
Soledad is an Asset Manager at Drago Capital. She joined the firm in 2008. Prior to her role at Drago, she worked for four years at Cushman and Wakefield, the international brokerage firm, where she managed Lucent Technologies' EMEA portfolio among other assets. Soledad started her career as a consultant in the outsourcing services department of Deloitte & Touche.
She holds a degree in Law from the Universidad de Deusto and an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid.
Pedro is an Asset Manager at Drago Capital. Before joining the company in January 2009, he worked for a major constructor in Portugal where he managed several construction projects. Prior to this, he worked with a former teacher on a PhD on the rehabilitation of buildings.
Pedro is a graduate from the University of Lisbon with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Álvaro is Asset Manager at Drago Capital. He joined Drago in September 2010. Previously, Álvaro was responsible of the Acquisitions Department for a Family Office (Euroasset). Before this, he worked at BM, part of Banco Espirito Santo group, as head of the distribution desk, on behalf of international institutional clients.
Álvaro is a graduate from the Universidad Complutense - San Pablo CEU with a degree in Business Administration and holds a Masters Degree (BMD) from IESE.
